SPONSOR CERTIFICATES
Our parish is often asked to issue sponsor certificates for those who have been chosen to serve as godparents or sponsors for the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. At times, we are unable to provide a certificate if a person does not meet the requirements set by the Church, such as regular Mass attendance or the reception of the necessary sacraments. These guidelines exist to ensure that sponsors are able to fulfill their important role as witnesses and mentors in the Catholic faith.
If you are asked to serve as a sponsor, you should be able to affirm that you have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation in the Catholic Church; that you are at least 16 years of age; that if you are married, your marriage is recognized by the Church; that if you are not married, you are not cohabiting; that you are a registered parishioner; that you strive to live a morally upright life; and that you regularly attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
If you can honestly answer yes to all of these qualifications, please be sure that you have completed parish registration and then contact the parish office at 508-673-1123 to request your sponsor certificate.
