SCHOOl sacrament registration

We look forward to helping your children prepare to receive the sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion. This letter is for families of students in any grade who need Baptism and students beyond second grade who need First Holy Communion.

Baptism

Students of all ages who need Baptism will receive the sacrament as soon as possible, following the necessary preparation. Baptisms are ordinarily celebrated after Sunday Mass at the following times:

  • St. Michael Church: After the 9:30 a.m. Mass on the second Sunday of the month.

  • St. Joseph Church: After the 10:45 a.m. Mass on the fourth Sunday of the month.

If you would like your child baptized at another church, please speak with your own pastor about the arrangements.

Both parents of a child who needs Baptism need to make an appointment to meet with me. I offer appointments on late Saturday mornings and Monday evenings. If both parents are available after school, I can arrange to meet at that time as well.

To schedule a Saturday or Monday appointment, visit mjfallriver.org, go to “Parish Info,” and select “Appointments with Fr. Fred.” Please contact me directly to arrange an after-school meeting.

First Holy Communion

Students in fifth grade and above who need First Holy Communion will receive the sacrament as soon as possible, following the necessary preparation, at a Sunday Mass.

I will hold an evening group meeting at the school for parents of these students. The meeting date will be announced later. At that meeting, we will discuss the preparation needed and set dates for catechesis.

I will also hold a separate group meeting for parents of students in third and fourth grades who need First Holy Communion. Details about this meeting will be announced later.
